Airport Fire & Rescue

The Airport Fire & Rescue Services

The Airport Fire & Rescue Services (AFRS) is an entity distinct from the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency. This separate organization has as its primary role to save lives in the event of an aircraft accident on land or in the immediate surrounding sea area. It works in direct liaison with the Seychelles Coastguard for search and rescue at sea when the need arises.

The AFRS also works in collaboration with the SFRSA when needed by providing assistance in cases of natural disasters such as Bush Fires and Flooding. This is done through discussion with the Air Traffic Control Tower since Fire Appliances and personnel on duty have to proceed outside the Airport Boundary. The AFRS has an Emergency Plan for both its Mahé and Praslin stations that it activates depending on the type and level of emergencies.
