The Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC) has acquired a new Industrial Fire Fighting Foam Pumper. The fire fighting truck being a new addition for SEYPEC, is a 4x2 Refinery Foam Pumper which boasts a 7,000 litre Foam Tank capacity, manufactured by one of the leading specialized manufacturers of fire fighting vehicles; Marcé Fire Fighting Technology in South Africa.

SEYPEC as an organisation which attaches great importance to safety and operating in conformity with International standards has recently increased its fuel storage tanks capacity by an additional 65,000 cubic meters at its Port Victoria Installation. As such, an increase in fuel storage capacity necessitates that the company has adequate and appropriate fire fighting tools as per International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards hence the purchase of its very own on site Foam Pumper.
According to Mr Ray Hoareau SEYPEC’s Operations & Technical Manager, presently SEYPEC has a fix foam tank and pumping facility at its Port Victoria installation and South tank farm and with the arrival of the new foam pumper allows for greater flexibility in now being better equipped and prepared should any fire incidents arise.
Aside from the large capacity foam tank other specifications of truck includes built-in Foam Proportioners, Foam Canon as well as Fire Water Hose with an engine capacity of 8000cc.
Prior to the shipping of fire fighting truck, SEYPEC’s Manager for Protection Services Mr Allen de l’Etourdie and Maintenance Manager Mr Didier Harmegnies, attended a factory acceptance test in South Africa and with the arrival of the Foam Pumper in the country, continuous training sessions are on schedule to ensure competent and effective operation of the vehicle.
