Mauritius – Seychelles: MoU to address issues related to fire and other emergency threats
GIS – November 19, 2014: A Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to create the necessary framework and mechanism to allow a better understanding of issues relating to fire and other emergency threats common to both Mauritius and Seychelles would be signed.
Signatories will be the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service and the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency.
The MoU also aims at implementing collaborative measures to address the issues relating to fire. Activities under the MoU includes
- Programmes and services in specific areas of mutual interest, namely, exchanging of information in fire safety, fire prevention and emergency planning;
- Capacity-building in Urban Search and Rescue, search and rescue during floods, cyclones, landslides and tsunamis;
- Development of research projects; and
Leadership and technical exchange programmes and participation in commemorative activities
