House partially damaged by fire

on .

A house in Anse Royale has been partially damaged by fire.

The incident happened on Saturday and the Seychelles Fire and Rescue services Agency (SFRSA) said it received a call regarding a fire outbreak in a house at Anse Royale at 1.13pm and immediately two fire tenders from Anse Royale fire station were deployed with a total crew of eight fire fighters assisted by one water bowser. Another fire tenders from the Victoria fire station with a crew of four fire fighters also rushed to the scene.

It took the team from Anse Royale around four minutes to reach the scene and upon arrival it was noticed that the fire was in the ceiling on the first floor of the house. Immediately fire fighters engaged in extinguishing the fire.

It took around 10 minutes to put the fire under control and 1 hour 30 minutes to completely extinguish it.

The house, particular the ceiling and the electrical wiring system, has been partially damaged by the fire while the rest of the house is still intact.

A man of Bangladeshi origin was transported to the Anse Royale hospital for treatment as he had inhaled too much smoke when trying to extinguish the fire.

The fire may have been caused due to an electrical fault in the wiring system. However it is yet to be determined upon further investigation.
