Fire destroys two-bedroom house in Montagne Posée
Fire completely destroyed a two-bedroom house in Montagne Posée, in an area known as ‘Gran Bwa’ in the early hours of Wednesday and the three occupants – a couple and their eight-month old baby – manage to escape unscathed.
According to the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA), the incident was reported at 2.16am.
It deployed two fire tenders from Anse Royale Fire Station assisted by another fire tender and a water bowser from Victoria Fire Station to the scene, where the eleven-member crew was able to get the fire under control within eight minutes, and managed to completely extinguish it within an hour.
SFRSA noted it had some constraints to reach the scene due to the poor condition and width of the road, which was too narrow to cater for the fire tenders.
SFRSA in conjunction with the police have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
The house was built mostly with corrugated iron sheets on timber framing, while part of it was constructed with concrete block and covered with corrugated iron sheets.
